Keep the Learning, Release the Goal
A useful thought experiment: imagine you’ve spent weeks pursuing a goal, then your circumstances change. The first impulse may be to keep the plan intact so the effort still “counts.” But the effort already counts; it doesn’t need to become a new obligation.
Before deciding what comes next, write down one thing the goal has taught you or made possible. Then ask whether the goal still serves your life now. If it does, revise the pace. If it doesn’t, release it with the learning intact.
needn’t mean accumulating unfinished promises. A goal can end without its lesson disappearing.
