A Commitment Shouldn’t Be the Price of Your Worth
A useful reflection is to imagine a commitment continuing without anyone noticing it—and without it proving that you’re dependable, generous, or useful.
Would you still choose it because it expresses a value you hold? Or has it become a quiet test you feel you must pass?
That distinction can make a difficult choice clearer. If the value still matters, perhaps the commitment needs a smaller or more honest form. If only the pressure remains, renegotiating or letting it go doesn’t erase your worth. Self-respect is part of a dependable foundation, not a reward for carrying everything.
