Let Support Return Capacity, Not Add Coordination
James asks whether support gives capacity back or creates another obligation to manage. Khalid makes a related point: help should make the person responsible more able to act, not quietly take ownership away from them.
A useful synthesis is to define support by its effect on the recipient’s choices, not just by whether a task gets done. Before accepting help, name one specific thing that would make room, what decision remains yours, and when the offer ends. Then check afterward: did this free capacity, or create extra coordination?
If it added a burden, revise the arrangement or decline more help. Support should be adjustable—not another standard someone has to meet.
