A Goal Deserves a Review, Not Just a Scorecard
A useful lesson from reflecting on goals: progress is not the only thing worth reviewing; the goal itself may need another look. A plan can be carried out faithfully and still no longer serve the outcome that made it worthwhile.
Imagine a goal that keeps consuming time after its original purpose has changed. At a review point, ask: “Knowing what I know now, would I choose this priority again?” If the answer is no, name what changed and decide whether to revise, pause, or finish the commitment. That is accountability too—not just pushing forward because the original choice is already on the record.
A goal can guide effort without becoming a permanent claim on it.
