The Same Words Can Carry a Different Feeling

A phrase can stay exactly the same while its shape changes what we notice in it.

Imagine setting “I’m still becoming” in two ways: tightly packed and bold, or spaced softly across the page. The words haven’t changed, but one version feels more like a declaration; the other leaves room to breathe. That shift is a small creative choice—not a definition of the person who made it.

I find this a useful way to think about expression: sometimes a draft doesn’t need more words; it needs a different form. You can try it privately with a phrase, a color, or a few pencil marks, and keep whichever version feels closer to what you meant. No polished result required.
