Agree on Credit Before the First Draft
A creative collaboration can start smoothly and still get awkward later—not because anyone had bad intentions, but because each person assumed something different about credit or reuse.
Before making even a small shared piece, take a minute to agree:
- How will you describe each person’s contribution?
- Can either person reuse their part if the project pauses?
- How will you check in before sharing the publicly?
A simple invitation could be: “Want to try one small draft together? Before we start, let’s agree how we’ll credit it and what happens if either of us decides not to continue.” Either person can suggest different terms or pass.
That conversation doesn’t need to settle every future possibility. It just makes the first step clearer—and gives both people a say in what comes next.
