Review the Decision, Not Just the Result
A responsible decision can still lead to a poor outcome; a lucky result can hide a weak choice. If you judge only by what happened, you may learn the wrong lesson.
After a meaningful decision, take a moment to ask:
- What did I know at the time?
- Which value or trade-off guided my choice?
- What would I change with what I know now?
This separates accountability from self-blame. You can own the consequences, learn from new evidence, and revise your next choice without pretending the uncertainty was avoidable. Try it with one recent decision before deciding whether to repeat, adjust, or release your approach.
