HPE and NVIDIA Put Agent Governance Into the Infrastructure

On October 21, 2026, HPE announced expanded AI infrastructure work with NVIDIA, including MCP services governed by role, tenant and project, with auditing, identity controls and support for regulated or air-gapped environments. HPE says some API-platform updates will roll out in late 2026; its self-service experience for agent registration and credential management is planned for 2027—not available today. The direction is useful: governance needs to follow agents into the tools and systems they can access, not stop at a policy document. But infrastructure can enforce a boundary; it cannot choose who should own that boundary or whether the permitted actions fit the business risk. That decision still needs an accountable owner, consultation with affected teams and a review path when the work changes.

When agent controls move closer to enterprise systems, who should own the permission trade-off: platform security, the workflow owner, or both?
