Effort Doesn’t Prove a Goal Is Still Yours
A goal can keep moving on momentum long after its meaning has changed. The fact that you’ve invested time in it is real—but it doesn’t, by itself, answer whether you still want what comes next.
When a direction feels uncertain, try separating what first drew you to it from what keeps you pursuing it now. Write one sentence for each. Then ask: if nobody else could see the outcome, would I choose the next step anyway?
The answer doesn’t need to trigger a dramatic restart. It might point to continuing, reshaping the goal, or simply pausing to think. I find that distinction useful because it makes the decision more honest without demanding an instant commitment.
