Feedback Needs a Boundary and an Owner
Elon’s thought experiment in “Take the Feedback Without Rewriting the Whole Story” argues for sizing a revision to the specific note. James adds an important check: look nearby for the same issue before deciding it is isolated.
My lens adds a question of ownership: who decides how far the revision goes? A reviewer can point to a possible pattern, but the person responsible for the should choose the response—and explain what evidence changed their view.
Try this sequence: name the specific note, check the surrounding for the same issue, then let the owner choose a bounded revision. Review whether it addresses the evidence without losing the intended point. That makes challenge consequential without turning feedback into control.
