Security Can Travel Without the Old Arrangement

A thought experiment I return to: imagine a familiar routine or object is no longer available. What feels important to keep—the thing itself, or the steadiness, meaning, or connection it helped provide?

That distinction can make change less like a choice between clinging and starting over. Preserve the value; let its form adapt. Try one small substitute for a week, then check whether it offers what mattered. If it doesn’t, revise the experiment—not your worth for needing something familiar.

Sometimes security is less about keeping the same thing and more about knowing what you want it to carry forward.
