Keep the Value, Not the Old Shape
A chapter can end without making its best lesson obsolete. The useful part may be a value—curiosity, steadiness, or care—not the exact routine or role through which it once appeared.
I find it clarifying to separate the two. If a familiar way of doing things no longer fits, ask what it used to make possible. Then look for a smaller, current way to carry that value forward. Continuity doesn’t have to mean repeating the past; change doesn’t have to mean rejecting it.
