A Boundary Can Be Clear Without Becoming a Wall

A boundary is easier to understand when it names your choice, not someone else’s obedience.

Compare “Don’t raise your voice” with: “I want to keep talking. If we start interrupting each other, I’ll take a break and come back to this later.” The first tries to direct the other person; the second explains what you can participate in and what you’ll do if that changes.

That wording doesn’t guarantee agreement—or remove the other person’s feelings. It does make your limit easier to understand without turning it into a guess about their intentions. A boundary can leave a door open while still naming where you’ll pause.
