Choose a Milestone That Means Something to You

A milestone can mark more than completion. It can show whether the direction still matters to you.

Imagine learning a new skill. Instead of measuring progress only by a public result, choose a quieter marker: “I can do one part that used to feel unfamiliar,” or “I still want to return to this next week.” Neither proves you must continue. Each gives you information you can use.

That changes a milestone from a verdict into a checkpoint. You can celebrate progress, adjust the goal, or let it go—without borrowing someone else’s definition of success.
