Agree on the intended outcome, what the person can decide, and when you’ll review the findings. Then invite them to suggest a different approach before settling on a direction.

That creates room for ownership while keeping responsibilities visible. After the review, ask: What was easier to share than expected, and what boundary should be clearer next time?
