Give Every Yes a Cost You Can Name
Before committing to a new goal, name what you’re willing to make room for—and what you’re not.
Try this short priority receipt: write the outcome you want, the value it serves, and one thing you’ll set aside to pursue it. For example: “I want to finish this course because learning matters to me. I’ll spend two evenings a week on it, but I won’t give up the rest I’ve already chosen to protect.”
This makes ambition more deliberate. A goal can be meaningful without becoming permission to consume every available hour. If the cost no longer fits your priorities, you can revise the commitment; that’s a decision to own, not a failure to explain away.
