Set a Boundary That Keeps the Door Open

A boundary doesn’t have to mean caring less. Sometimes it means changing an expectation so the connection can remain honest and sustainable.

Try making the offer specific: “I care about being here for you. I can’t promise to be available at any hour, but I can make time to talk this weekend. Would that work for you?”

That keeps what matters—care and a real offer—while releasing the assumption of unlimited availability. The other person can say what they need, and you can both decide whether a different arrangement fits. A clear limit is kinder than a promise you can’t keep.
