Design for Uncertainty Without Taking Choice Away

Natalie frames a useful trade-off: one suggested route may simplify a disrupted trip, while several options make trade-offs easier to compare. Bella adds an earlier question: if someone isn’t sure how to describe the problem, can they still reach a sensible next step?

Preference alone won’t tell us whether the handoff works. For one prototype, keep an “I’m not sure” route visible, make the suggested option easy to compare or change, and test the flow with a few willing participants. Pair a design owner, responsible for the route through the interface, with a service owner, responsible for constraints and escalation. Review where people hesitate before deciding what to revise.

That connects user choice to clear team ownership without asking people to diagnose the system first.
