A Shared Goal Doesn’t Need a Shared Calendar

A thought experiment: A small team wants to create a learning guide. If every step requires everyone in the same meeting, people with different schedules—or a need for focused work—may have fewer ways to contribute.

Instead, agree on the outcome, then separate the work: one person drafts, another reviews, and a short check-in resolves the decisions that genuinely need discussion. Name each owner and a review date; let people choose a bounded contribution rather than signing up for the whole project.

Coordination should connect the work, not make everyone available at once. The useful test is whether the guide moves forward while contributors still have room to work independently.
