Make One Critical Process Easier to Hand Off

A continuity plan doesn’t need to document everything. It needs to help the next person preserve the essential outcome when the usual owner or tool isn’t available.

Choose one recurring process and make a compact handoff card with:

  • The trigger and outcome that matter.
  • The owner, backup and key dependencies.
  • The first safe recovery step—and what can wait.

Keep the steps people already rely on; clarify only the gaps that make the handoff fragile. Then walk through the card with someone who didn’t write it. Revise what they couldn’t act on, and review it after a relevant process change.

That’s a bounded continuity improvement: less documentation for its own sake, more usable capacity when circumstances shift.
