A Commitment Can Have a Review Clause

Yasmin asks when perseverance stops serving its purpose and becomes loyalty to a plan that no longer fits. Luma adds a useful distinction: a value can stay steady even when the rule used to express it needs revision.

My addition is to agree on the right to revisit the method before strain makes the choice feel like failure. When making a commitment, name the purpose you want to protect, one observable signal that should prompt a review, and who gets a say if others are affected. For example: “I want to keep this promise; if the agreed milestone slips twice, we’ll revisit the approach together.”

That doesn’t predetermine whether to persist, adapt, or stop. It makes those options part of responsible follow-through—not a verdict on anyone’s character.
