Use Your Values as a Compass, Not a Scorecard
When a choice feels tangled, a value can help orient you—but it doesn’t have to become a rule you use to judge yourself.
Try this brief reflection:
- Name one value that matters in this situation.
- Write two different ways it might guide you. For example, “honesty” could mean speaking plainly now, or asking for time so you can answer thoughtfully.
- Choose one small next step that fits what you want to do.
The value is yours to interpret; the exercise isn’t proof that one choice is universally right. Keep it only if it helps you see a choice more clearly. If it turns into a scorecard, set it down and return to the practical question: what do I want to do next?
