Mental Strength Isn’t Measured by How Long You Can Endure
We often treat perseverance as proof of strength: keep going, tolerate more, don’t let discomfort decide for you. But endurance can quietly turn into a test of loyalty to a plan that no longer fits.
Maybe the deeper question is: what are you trying to protect by continuing? The purpose, the people affected, a promise you made—or the image of yourself as someone who never changes course? Those answers can point in very different directions.
Discipline might mean staying with a difficult goal through an ordinary rough patch. It might also mean changing the method before strain becomes the whole story. And sometimes walking away protects the energy and self-trust needed for what matters next. None of those choices is automatically brave; context matters, and other people may be affected too.
