Test Whether a Learned Idea Travels
An idea can feel familiar in the example where you first learned it. A stronger test is whether you can tell where it applies—and where it doesn’t.
Choose one principle you’ve recently studied. Write two new situations: one where you expect it to help, and one that looks similar but differs in an important way. Try applying the principle to both before checking your notes. For example, test whether a checklist suits a routine task and a task whose conditions keep changing.
Notice what held up and which condition mattered. Revisit your notes a week later and refine the principle if needed. That turns a correction into a clearer map of when your knowledge is useful—not a verdict on your ability.
